SIGMADESIGN has collaborated with an aerospace manufacturing company seeking an experienced Machinist to join their facility in Canby, OR. This company delivers manufacturing solutions for aerospace structures and is the trusted source for their clients’ projects.

    Primary Function:

    The CNC Machinist will be setting up and proving out new CNC programs for new or existing parts, troubleshooting both new and existing issues with programs, and working with programming to resolve the issues. The CNC machinist will also train operators on production parts as well as standard shop practices.

    Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities:

  • Sets up and proves out new or existing CNC programs 3, 4 and 5 axis machine centers.

  • Review new programs prior to start in CAD program system or CAD program verification system a plus.

  • Works directly with programming & Quality department to resolve program issues.

  • Offers input or suggestions to improve current processes.

  • Trains employees on advanced machining skills

    Education and Experience: (Knowledge, skills, & abilities)

  • 5+ years machining experience.

  • Previous set-up and prove out experience.

  • Advanced knowledge of G and M codes for CNC machines

  • Ability to review part program in CAD system and or CAD program verification system a plus.

  • Proficiency in Blueprint reading and application of GD&T

  • Advanced ability in shop math skills such as Trigonometry, Metal removal calculations, Surface Speed calculations.

    Work Environment:

    Standard machine shop environment with various types of machinery. Appropriate safety garments (PPE) must be worn. Must be able to stand and work as long as 12 hours in different positions. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
