Cornell Cooperative Extension Camp Bristol Hills: Assistant Food Service Director - Canandaigua, NY in Canandaigua, New York

The mission of 4-H Camp Bristol Hills is to provide youth with a unique, fun outdoor experience under the guidance of positive role models, emphasizing positive social interaction, environmental awareness, and skill building.

The Assistant Cook is responsible for the planning and implementing of camp meals with the Food Service Director. The Assistant Food Service Director is not required to live on the camp property.

Duration

The Assistant Food Service Director position includes 1 week of pre-camp staff training and 5 weeks of residential camp that run from Sunday afternoon to Friday afternoon each week. Specific dates camp is open are June 30 -August 9, 2024. The Assistant Food Service Director is responsible for helping with the cleaning and closing of the camp’s kitchen facility. Pending availability, employment may begin as early as June 24, 2024, and extend as late as August 30, 2024, based on program needs, training, and availability.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Cook and serve meals efficiently

  • Care and cleaning of kitchen equipment and facility

  • Assist Food Service Director when needed during the camp day.

  • Supervise kitchen staff with professionalism when Food Service Director is off duty

  • Assist in filling requisition requests for special meals and weekend meals

  • Support and embrace diversity in all interactions with campers, other staff members, volunteers, and parents. Implement programs that engage diverse backgrounds, interests and learning styles.

  • Other duties may be assigned as required

    Qualifications

  • 18 years of age or previous experience as an assistant cook.

  • Experience with food management and large quantity cooking

  • Willingness and ability to be flexible to adjust to camp resources, conditions, and program

    Position Details

    This is a full-time, non-exempt, temporary position .

    Salary and Benefit Details

    The rate of pay will be $3,456. (Rate will be reduced for any time scheduled, but not worked during the period) Rate of pay is commensurate with experience, certifications, responsibilities, and availability. Benefits are not available for this position.
