Description

A&P Helicopter Technician (KIUA) Canandaigua, NY

Mercy Flight Central, Inc. (MFC) is seeking an A&P Helicopter Technician in Canandaigua, NY for our Part 135 Helicopter Air Ambulance Operation. We are seeking aviation professionals that share our passion for safety of flight in our ‘Critical Care in the Air’ operations.

Job Description:You will need to be willing and able to read, interpret and follow the specific guidelines and instructions required by MFC and by aircraft and component manufacturers, the FAA and other regulatory agencies to properly inspect, repair and maintain our fleet of HAAO aircraft operated by MFC.

Essential Job functions and key responsibilities:These will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Perform or assist in general checks such as preflight and postflight inspections

  • Tow or manually push/pull aircraft and GSE with appropriate support equipment

  • Properly perform and document assigned maintenance and inspection tasks as required by MFC, the Director of Maintenance and in accordance with appropriate instructions and applicable FAA regulations

  • Remove, replace, rig and adjust components and assemblies with minimal assistance.

  • Assist in monitoring and coordinating maintenance and inspection activities with the DOM. - Be able to accurately work with basic mathematical concepts and be able to use conversion tables.

  • Ability to read and have basic understanding of interpreting system drawings, schematics, electronic diagrams and other similar technical materials

  • Help maintain shop tooling and GSE in appropriate serviceable and calibrated condition.

  • Will be required to work occasional overtime and requires being able to be placed in a rotating roster to respond promptly to aircraft maintenance needs while on call. This may require travel between facilities or to alternate aircraft locations.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Be able to bend, kneel, squat, sit or stand for extended periods of time and be able to lift 75 lbs

  • Frequent use of hands, wrists, shoulders, and back

  • Be comfortable using ladders, stands, and basic GSE equipment

  • Requires sufficient vision (corrected) and the ability to effectively and safely perform the essential functions of the position; ability to see colors, and the use of peripheral vision and depth perception

  • Some exposure to hazardous materials and conditions is likely

  • Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by industry standards and MFC

  • Possess and maintain inventory of basic hand tools

  • Must possess a current and valid Airframe & Powerplant certificate

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clear recent driving record

Preferred Other Qualifications:

  • Basic computer skills include MS Office programs (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.)

  • Three years experience working with turbine-powered rotor and/or fixed-wing aircraft

  • Part 135 field maintenance experience

  • Professional integrity and a commitment to maintaining safe and compliant aircraft

  • Must be detail-oriented and be able to work well with others to plan, troubleshoot, and problem solve
