L3Harris Senior Specialist, Quality Management Systems in Canadian Forces Base Trenton, Ontario

L3Harris MAS is seeking a Senior Specialist, Quality Management Systems in Trenton CFB for the CC-150 Polaris Program.

For more than 10 years, we have been repairing, maintaining and modernizing the CC-150 Polaris fleet operating 3 configurations for DND troop/pax movement, cargo/tanker operations, and VVIP travel. VVIP travel includes the Royal Family, the Governor General, and our Prime Minister.

About your next Challenge as a Specialist, Quality Management System:

  • Under the supervision of the Quality Assurance Senior Manager, the Quality Management Specialist will be responsible for all aspects of the Quality Program on the CC150 in Trenton ensuring the quality of maintenance and regulatory compliance.

  • You will also assume the responsibility of the Safety Management System (SMS) coordination in accordance with Aircraft Maintenance Organization (AMO) policies and procedures.

  • As the Safety Management System Coordinator you will be leading expert in matters relating to aviation safety, organize and run the SMS program and ensure that the SMS Program coordinator, PRM and Accountable Executive are informed of all significant hazards, occurrences, incidents, accidents, risks and deficiencies directly related to aviation safety in Trenton.

    What You Will Do:

    Quality Assurance

  • Maintain a Quality Assurance Program;

  • Recommend changes and issuance of the Maintenance Control Document;

  • Approve and oversight of all forms related to Quality Assurance processes;

  • Monitor the issue, approval and control of Aircraft Certification Authorities (ACA), Work Performed (WP) and Receiving

  • Inspection (RI) certification privileges;

  • Provide training recommendations to the PRM, the SDE and department managers as well as ensuring that training records are maintained in accordance with the MCD;

  • Support the L3Harris MAS QA department with the completeness of all audits of the AMO and Accredited Technical Organization (ATO)

  • Ensure that aircraft records and historical data are maintained in accordance with internal, contractual and regulatory requirements; and;

  • Operate the Quality Assurance (QA), Safety Management System (SMS) and Flight Safety (FS) program in accordance with the requirements defined in the MPM, the MCD and related documents.

    SMS Aspect (Flight Safety)

  • Organize and keep records of Safety Management System Committee meetings;

  • Communicate & promote Safety Management System awareness;

  • Alert personnel to hazards and their avoidance via e-mails, bulletin boards, website, newsletters, service difficulty reports, industry reports, etc.;

  • Assist the PRM in developing and monitoring annual goals;

  • Investigate and report on hazards, occurrences, and incidents to determine their causes and make recommendations to prevent recurrence;

  • Raise a corrective action request for each event reported in the Corrective Action Report (CAR) database; and

  • Follow-up on the effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions.

    Required Skills and Experiences:

  • College degree in aeronautical or relevant experience;

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Aircraft Maintenance;

  • In-depth knowledge of Canadian Aviation Regulations and Safety Management Systems;

  • Deep knowledge of airworthiness and aviation standards including Transport Canada and Canadian Air Force regulations, and civil industry standards including AS9100 and AS9110;

  • Good knowledge of Flight Safety Program for the Canadian Forces and the Flight Safety Information Management System (FSIMS) an asset;

  • Aircraft type endorsement considered an asset;

  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows environment ;

  • Knowledge of laws and policies related to the environment, health and safety in the workplace;

  • Adaptability, interpersonal skills, strong customer service skills;

  • Experience in quality control, airworthiness or relevant experience in the aeronautical field;

  • Good planning, work organization and priority management skills;

  • Thorough knowledge of laws and policies related to airworthiness and the L3Harris Quality System;

  • Excellent teamwork, collaboration, communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Knowledge of SAP an asset;

  • Knowledge of various problem solving methods (8D for example) an asset;

  • Knowledge of continuous improvement (concepts, methodology) an asset;

  • Bilingualism (French and English) an asset; good oral and written communication skills (English required) or in both languages (French and English);

    Eligibility Criteria (mandatory):

  • Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program;

  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a government of Canada “Reliability” status and/or Level 2 (Secret) security clearance;

  • For on-site positions, our location not accessible by public transport, car/carpooling required.
