Responsibilities

Schedule:

Monday - Friday 0600-1600 - 8, 9 or 10 hour shifts depending on the departments needs

No Holidays or Weekends!

Job Specific Responsibilities and Tasks: Duties may include but are not limited to :

Core Duties :

• Provide a full range of outcome-based nurse practitioner services in accordance with privileges granted by the MTF (e.g., provide general screening and medical care and examinations of patients for routine, acute and chronic conditions involving any and all organ systems; provide immunizations; diagnose, treat, and counsel patients as indicated).

• Technically direct and teach other staff, provide evidenced-based educational lectures and participate in in-service training to staff members.

• Diagnose and treat patients with common acute conditions, chronic illnesses, or minor trauma within accepted protocols, clinical practice guidelines, Nurse Practice Acts, and/or in consultation with a physician.

• Promote preventive care and health maintenance including annual physicals, positive health behaviors and self-care through both formal and individual education and counseling.

• Communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization.

• Recognize conditions that require isolation and ensure universal precautions are used in all patient encounters.

• Attend staff meetings to provide case discussion, continuing education, and continuous quality improvement and safety.

Additional Duties .

  • HCW shall provide services within the scope of the clinical privileges granted by the commanding officer, the applicable duties provided in the basic contract, and the following:

  • Analyze the results of the health care plan, modify the health care plan as needed, and implement and participate in follow-up.

  • Participate in meetings to review and evaluate the care provided to patients, identify opportunities to improve the care delivered, and recommend corrective action when problems exist. Should a meeting occur outside of the HCW’s regular working hours, the HCW shall be required to read and initial the minutes of the meeting.

  • Participate in the provision of monthly in-service training to non-health care- practitioner members of the clinical and administrative staff on subjects germane to the HCW’s specialty.

  • Provide for an optimum physical environment for patients and staff, emphasizing good safety practices and cleanliness.

  • Support preventive maintenance and report equipment failures and inadequacies.

  • Promote economical utilization of equipment, supplies, and be cost conscious when ordering lab and radiological studies.

  • Know the location and operation of emergency equipment.

  • Adhere to departmental and hospital safety guidelines.

  • Attend Boards and Committees, Continuing Education, and Quality Assurance Functions consistent with the requirements of the position.

  • Obtain and accurately documents a relevant health history, with an emphasis on mental history.

  • Perform comprehensive mental health assessments and psychiatric evaluations.

  • Analyze the relationship between normal physiology and specific system alterations associated with mental health problems, psychiatric disorders, and treatment.

  • Identify and analyzes factors that affect mental health such as genetics, family environment trauma, psychodynamics, culture & ethnicity, etc.

  • Collect data from multiple sources using assessment techniques that are appropriate to the patient’s language, culture and developmental stage.

  • Conduct a comprehensive multigenerational family assessment.

  • Assess the impact of acute and/or chronic physical illness, psychiatric disorders, and stressors on the family system.

  • Performs and accurately documents appropriate systems and symptom-focused physical examinations, with emphasis on the mental status exam and neurological exam.

  • Develop a treatment plan for mental health problems and psychiatric disorders based on bio-psychosocial theories, evidence-based standards of care, and practice guidelines.

  • Conduct individual, group, and/or family psychotherapy.

  • Treat acute psychiatric disorders and mental health problems.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications :

• Degree: Master's degree in nursing.

• Education: Education: Graduate from an academic program, within the nursing specialty field of study that is accredited by a regional or national nursing accrediting agency recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

• Experience: Have successfully completed 30 hours of education in pharmacology for advance nursing practice.

• Possess a minimum experience of 1-year full-time experience within the last two years as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner that includes prescribing psychiatric medications.

* Certification :Possess and maintain current certification as an Adult or Psychiatric-Mental Health Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).

• Licensure: Current, full, active and unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse

* Security : Must possess ability to pass a Government background check/security clearance.

* Life Support Certification: Possess a current AHA OR ARC BLS Healthcare Provider certification.

Pay Scale: $60.00 - $85.00 per hour, to be determined based on qualifications, experience, and location
