Unit Description

Sodexo is currently seeking a Food Production Manager - 3 to join our Government Services team at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, California. The Production Manager will report directly to the General Manager and will be responsible for day-to-day oversight of all culinary operations for one of it's Mess Halls.

Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, the Corps' largest West Coast expeditionary training facility, encompasses more than 125,000 acres of Southern California terrain. Located approximately 38 miles from downtown San Diego in North County and 82 miles south of Los Angeles, Camp Pendleton has been the largest employer in North San Diego County for more than 60 years. The successful candidate will:

  • Have 3-5 years operational management experience in a high-volume food service dining environment.

  • Be a people person with a strong focus with maintaining positive client relations ; a solid manager/leader who is perceptive and has attention to details that make a difference – quality and presentation of food – customer service –

  • Be SERVICE focused– including providing excellent customer service in a welcoming dining environment.

  • Be proficient in use of online Food Management Systems for menu/recipe planning, ordering and inventory;

  • Demonstrate proven financial acumen/success: Food costs/ labor costs, budgets.

  • have a strong background in safety and sanitation compliance; 

  • have high volume food service experience;

  • have contract food service experience, preferred ;

  • have experience managing staff in a union environment, preferred ;

  • have food service experience in a high-end establishment, preferred ;

  • can manage multiple priorities, demonstrate professional communication skills, and have a passion for a high level of customer service; and/or

  • prioritize tasks and exhibit flexibility to take on additional responsibilities as needed.

Basic Education Requirement - Associate's Degree or equivalent experience

Basic Management Experience - 2 years
