Summary This position is part of the TX USPFO, and is located in Austin, Camp Mabry, Texas. The purpose of this position is to is to serve as a Small Shop Chief (SSC) with the responsibility for the overall operations of a small shop. The position oversees and directs works of one or more Motor Vehicle Operators, WG-5703, who are assigned to the shop. The incumbent performs the full range of non-supervisory work of the shop. Texas is one of 9 states with NO state income tax. Responsibilities As a MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR (SSC) (Title 32) with the Texas Army National Guard, your duties will include, but will not be limited to Plans and lays out work to be accomplished in the shop which is then completed by the individual and lower graded worker(s). Possesses the knowledge and skills found at the journeyman level as well as those required for planning, accomplishing and maintaining a functional shop maintenance program. Independently determines appropriate maintenance procedures such as how and when the work should be accomplished. Estimates manpower, equipment and material requirements. Performs the same type and level of work as performed within the unit. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications To be considered for qualification, your resume must include relevant experience with beginning and ending dates of employment/experience reflecting the following: Specialized Experience Required To qualify at the WG-9 grade level, your resume must include relevant experience with beginning and ending dates of employment/experience reflecting 18 months experience or training which demonstrates the ability to operate and perform operator maintenance on straight-in-line trucks which typically have an approximate gross vehicle weight of more than 32,000 pounds. Experience demonstrating ability to operate truck tractors with semi-trailers or full trailers and motor coaches. Experience operating vehicles over a variety of roads including interstate highways, narrow country roads, and on steep winding grades. Experience driving vehicles without mishap in complicated traffic situations.
