Amentum Inspector-Certified Welder in Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, Kuwait

Work in Kuwait is contingent upon the applicant’s ability to obtain a work permit from the State of Kuwait, which is requested on the applicant’s behalf by their employer. Effective January 1, 2021, the Kuwait Public Authority of Manpower issued new work permit regulations, informing contractors that it will not issue a work permit to any individual who is fifty-nine (59) years or older and holds a high school grade certificate or less. A bachelor’s degree or higher is required for all candidates fifty-nine (59) years or older. See Administrative Decision No. (520) of 2020 AD – Amendment to the Administrative Decision No. (552) of 2018 on Issuing the Work Permit Regulations. Candidates with a current Visa 18 (residency visa) are excluded from the education requirement.

Purpose: The Certified Welder Inspector (CWI) will inspect and evaluate welding work to ensure it meets the required quality standards, industry codes, and specifications. CWI role is to ensure maintaining welding integrity and ensuring the safety and reliability of welded structures, vehicle armor and components for military equipment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform inspections of welding processes and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations.

  • Conduct visual examinations and dimensional checks on welded components.

  • Verify the quality and integrity of welds, including weld penetration, fusion, and appearance.

  • Assess welder qualifications, including certifications and proficiency in various welding techniques.

  • Interpret and analyze welding specifications, blueprints, and drawings to ensure compliance.

  • Identify defects, flaws, or deviations from the specified standards and recommend corrective actions.

  • Maintain accurate inspection records, reports, and documentation.

  • Collaborate with Project leadership, Department managers, and welding personnel to address any quality-related issues and provide technical guidance.

  • Stay updated with industry standards, codes, and inspection techniques to ensure continuous professional development.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:

  • 2+ years of previous experience as a Certified Welder Inspector or in a related welding quality assurance role.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proficient in AWS D1.1-2020.

  • Possess a valid certification as a Welding Inspector from a recognized certifying body, preferably American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welding Inspector - CWI.

  • Knowledgeable about various welding processes and quality measures.

  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and welding symbols.

  • Familiarity with pertinent welding codes (e.g., ASME, AWS, API).

  • Skilled in visual inspections and non-destructive testing techniques.

  • Strong documentation and organizational skills.

Certification, License & Clearance:

  • Valid Certified Welder Inspector certification, preferably from American Welding Society-AWS.

  • Must have a current, valid driver’s license.

  • Tier 1 NACI required for all U.S. Citizens.

  • U.S. Citizenship required.

Facility credentials/authorization required : Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.

Note: U.S. Citizenship is required to for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.

Work Environment, Physical Demands & Mental Demands:

  • Ability to perform job duties efficiently and effectively.

  • Must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions including dust and high temperatures.

  • Must be able to endure long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 Lbs.
