Prestage Production Process Operator (Evis / Debone) in Camden, South Carolina

General:

The production process operator is responsible for maintaining and servicing the manufacturing processes to ensure a top-quality product is safely and efficiently delivered to internal /external customers. Responsibilities include inspection, positioning, and placement of whole or parts of large birds. Hanging, cutting, trimming, and inspecting parts of birds. The position reports to the process supervisor w/ primary work schedule of day shift , Mon. - Thurs. 7am - 5:30pm OR Tues. - Fri., 5am - 3:30pm, with flexibility to work early/ late shift, short notice overtime, and weekends, as needed.

Specific Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for safely operating and maintaining product flow for various equipment and conveying systems including hanging whole or bird parts, cutting, trimming, loading and unloading parts of birds.

  • Safely uses tools, e.g. knives & scissors to prepare poultry parts for further processing

  • Completes on-going housekeeping to meet food safety standards

  • Operates with a safety-first mindset above all other department metrics

  • Works within GMP, Safety, and USDA guidelines to achieve top quality in a safe work environment

  • Willingly learns new skills, cross trains others, and works to improve process flow

  • Works directly with lead, supervisors, and co-workers to achieve production targets

  • Performs other assigned duties as directed

Requirements

Education: High school diploma or GED (Min.);

Experience:

  • Working knowledge / experience in food processing or related field (Poultry processing - preferred / not required

Skills/Abilities/Attributes:

  • Working knowledge in poultry or other food processing industry

  • Solid understanding of food safety compliance (preferred/ not required)

  • Detailed-oriented; self-directed; able to work in fast-paced environment

  • Team player w/ excellent communication and interpersonal skills;

Physical Requirements:

  • Lift / move up to 35 - 45 lbs.; occasionally 50 lbs.

  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, stoop up to 10 hrs./shift performing repetitive motion

  • Work safely in hot, cold, wet environment w/ varying temperatures (e.g., 35-40 / 100 degrees)

  • Exercise strong hand-eye coordination in handling whole & parts of birds
