Prestage Maintenance Technician (Multi-craft) - Night shift in Camden, South Carolina

General:

Maintenance Technician (multi-craft) supports the electrical/mechanical equipment needs of a state-of-the-art turkey processing plant. The role willingly seeks knowledge and responsibilities of multi-craft in electrical/ mechanical fields. The position reports to the maintenance supervisor w/ primary work schedule of M- - Fri night shift, with flexibility to work early/ late shift, overtime, and weekends, as needed.

Specific Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Routinely apply working knowledge of facility equipment and processes to monitor and troubleshoot equipment mechanical and minor electrical-related failures to minimize downtime and improve yield

  • Employ mechanical & electrical preventative maintenance (PM) during down days

  • Proactively use knowledge of VFD’s, AC/DC circuits, motors, pumps, rotating equipment, electrical, piping, etc. to address operating problems.

  • Partner with operations in set up /teardown and operation of equipment prior to shift start and after shift end.

  • Work with sanitation during overnight equipment operation for cleaning & sanitizing.

  • Ensure compliance with state / federal regulations & code; promote a safe work environment for self and others.

  • Assist co-workers with repairs and willingly share knowledge with others

  • Work with minimal supervision; Investigate and bring improvement suggestions forward

  • Other duties as assigned by Manager/Supervisor.

Requirements

Education: GED (Min.);Associates degree (preferred / not required) Mechanical & Electrical coursework / certificate (preferred)

Experience: Min. of 2 years of maintenance technician work experience in related field

Skills/Abilities/Attributes:

  • Working knowledge of electrical & mechanical systems

  • Solid understanding of electrical code and regulations (preferred/ not required)

  • Detailed-oriented; able to work in fast-paced environment

  • Self-directed, team player w/ good initiative, communication and interpersonal skills;

  • Analytical problem-solver; fast technical learner;

Physical Requirements:

  • Lift / move up to 40 lbs.; occasionally 50 lbs.

  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, stoop up to 10 hrs./shift

  • Able to work from 6+ feet of height

  • Work safely in hot, cold, wet environment e.g. 35-40 / 100 degrees

  • Exposure to low & high voltage equipment & conveying systems
