Primary Role We are looking for an outgoing and personable individual to join the New Jersey's External Affairs team as a Community Outreach & Education intern. The ideal candidate should be pursuing a communication and/or related major and have an affinity for engaging with the public. This role will represent New Jersey American Water at community events and will report directly to both the Sr. Manager of Government and External Affairs and the External Affairs Specialist. Key Accountabilities * Coordinate activities for events to include working with vendors, community partners, and employees. * Represent New Jersey American Water by tabling at community events with educational information and public engagement activities. Materials to include information on water quality reports/expertise, lead service line replacement program, wise water use/conservation tips, and bill paying assistance programs, among other topics, as well as Business Development information in communities with active referendum campaigns this summer. * Make educational presentations to small and large groups within the communities we serve (schools, camps, community organizations, etc.). * Provide photography and written content from event appearances for customer facing outlets (social media, newsletters, etc.). * Giveaways/inventory tracking and event organization to support community event appearances. Knowledge/Skills * Strong demonstrated communications skills, specifically verbal communication and public presentation skills. * Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Experience/Education * The ideal candidate for this position is self-motivated, can work independently and is confident in public speaking. * This person is someone who can engage with people of all ages and backgrounds at various types of external events. * Must be flexible with hours, which would include early mornings, evenings, and weekends. * Customer service experience is a plus. * Candidates must be 18 years of age or older, have a high school degree or equivalent and be pursuing a postsecondary education in the fields of communications or environmental sciencTo view the full job description, click here
