    Job Description

TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I, Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences (EAPS), to play a key role in supporting laboratory operations, conducting experiments, and data analysis. Will collect and analyze carbon, nutrients, and other chemical and microbial parameters of environmental and laboratory samples. Responsibilities will include performing routine tasks such as sample analysis and recording results in laboratory notebooks and electronic databases; overseeing the maintenance of instruments; maintaining laboratory supply inventory; and assisting with the disposal of chemical and hazardous waste. May also be involved in occasional extended field trips for environmental sampling.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in chemical or environmental science or closely related field; two years of related experience; experience with data analysis; willingness to learn; meticulous attention to detail and following protocols; familiarity with and a strong track record of adhering to laboratory safety protocols (EHS); and ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Seek someone who is well organized and able to multitask in a high throughput work environment. PREFERRED: experience in oceanography.
