    Job Description

SENIOR MECHANIC (MAINTENANCE), Laboratory for Nuclear Science (LNS)-Bates Research and Engineering Center (https://bateslab.mit.edu/about/) , to join a multi-purpose laboratory that designs and builds complex experimental equipment. Will crate and package shipments which may include assisting the moving of equipment; transport materials and equipment to off-site facilities; assemble office furniture and partitioning; assist with the relocation of staff offices, including packing moving boxes, shelving, office furniture, etc.; perform weather-related maintenance, including snow removal and salting of sidewalks and parking lot to ensure the safety of the grounds; off-load and deliver shipments to various research groups; set up conference room tables and chairs for seminars and conference rooms; assist with set up and/or clean out of laboratory and office space; assist with maintenance of five facilities vehicles including inspection, registration, repairs, gasoline, washing and detailing, etc.; assist with renovations within the department, including demolition, patching, painting, flooring, furniture assembly, building cabinets and bookcases, etc. assist with general repairs to doors, door locks, equipment, etc.; perform monthly inspection of fire extinguishers in the research labs; initiate broad range of facilities repair requests in Atlas and follow up to ensure repairs have been completed; contact various outside vendors for renovations (carpet, flooring, junk removal, etc.); arrange for hazardous waste pickups at off-site facilities; and perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
