    Job Description

RESEARCH SCIENTIST, Materials Science and Engineering (DMSE) (https://dmse.mit.edu/) , to assume a position geared towards advancing explorations in quantum materials and functional complex oxides. Will work in collaboration with both internal team members and external collaborators to investigate, understand, and exploit phenomena in a diverse range of materials; and further state-of-the-art microscopy techniques. The focus will be on integrating in situ electric and magnetic fields with STEM, ptychography, EELS, and EDX. A key responsibility will also be the development of automated microscopy algorithms to streamline the spatial mapping of point defects in materials. Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Ph.D. in physics, materials science, electrical engineering, or chemistry; at least three years post-graduate degree experience with a focus on aberration-corrected STEM (imaging and spectroscopy) and using tools for modeling and simulation electron scattering; experience with relevant programming languages (Python, MATLAB, and/or C++) and data analysis approaches; excellent project management, writing, and presentation skills; experience writing proposals for and working on government-funded projects; ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced, high-volume environment; and an interest in working in a team-oriented environment.
