Welcome to SVA’s jobs portal, your one-stop shop for finding the most up to date source of employment opportunities. We have partnered with the National Labor Exchange to provide you this information. You may be looking for part-time employment to supplement your income while you are in school. You might be looking for an internship to add experience to your resume. And you may be completing your training ready to start a new career. This site has all of those types of jobs.

Here are a few things you should know:
  • This site is mobile friendly. You do not need a log-in or password to access information.
  • Jobs on this site are original and unduplicated and come from three sources: the Federal government, state workforce agency job banks, and corporate career websites. All jobs are vetted to ensure there are no scams, training schemes, or phishing.
  • The site is refreshed daily to remove out-of-date content.
  • The newest jobs are listed first, so use the search features to match your interests. You can look for jobs in a specific geographical location, by title or keyword, or you can use the military crosswalk. You may want to do something different from your military career, but you undoubtedly have skills from that occupation that match to a civilian job.

    Job Description

RESEARCH SCIENTIST 1, Research Laboratory of Electronics (RLE), to join Professor Yang Shao-Horn’s research group (https://www.rle.mit.edu/eel/) on a project modeling kinetics for electrochemical reactions and diffusion of ion (cation and anion) in different phases of electrolytes ranging from liquids to polymers and ceramics and breaking down into its main comprising steps. At each step, a specific electronic, structural, physical, or chemical mechanism can dominate its success rate and will be thoroughly modeled and computationally identified throughout the project. Will lead efforts to either perform the calculations/analyses or initiate collaborations with team members/outside collaborations. Will determine the energetics of different steps with fidelity, determine the concentration defects and carriers in different phases of electrolyte, investigate the rate of kinetics and diffusion, devise new theoretical models based on existing principles and natural physical laws that describe the underlying relation between the experimental measurements and computational predictions and fingerprints, and connect the atomistic simulations to macroscopic (mostly experimentally determined) properties.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Ph.D. in materials science, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemistry, physics, or other relevant field; two years’ experience with nano- and macro-scale thermophysical simulations; strong working knowledge of nano-micro simulations (molecular dynamics, density functional theory), statistical thermodynamics (entropy evaluation) and defect chemistry,, solid-state physics, materials thermodynamics, and macro thermophysical calculations; ability to perform independent research at the interface of thermodynamics, defect chemistry, molecular local environments, and thermophysics; experience developing and assessing new formulas/theories; ability to work with experimentalist to guide experiments and interpret measurements, collaborate with multiple research groups, and contribute to cross-functional development of new theoretical models and continuous improvement; and strong communication, organizational, and planning skills. Job #23731May be required to work nights and weekends. This is a twelve-month position with a possibility of renewal based on the availability of funding.2/14/24
