General Administrative Support
Key contact for PhD program inquiries, applicants, admitted students and current students. Facilitate internal application and award process for student prizes, fellowships, and grants, and will coordinate dissertation defense application process. Will manage and maintain integrity of all documentation and student records for program. Provides administrative support for department’s PhD alumni engagement activities.
Financial Processing
Responsible for financial processing and tracking for graduate program, including processing reimbursements and program-related invoices as well as tracking and processing student prizes, fellowships and grants. Will work with department finance team to resolve related issues, and monitor program budget and make recommendations on reallocations.
Event Coordination
Plan, coordinate and execute various events throughout the academic year. Manage related budgets, interact and negotiate with vendors, and develop program content in coordination with Assistant Director of Graduate Studies. Events include, but are not limited to community-building events, graduation-related events, activities for admitted students, and orientation for incoming students.
Communication Coordination
Provide smooth day-to-day flow of communications within program and departmental colleagues as well as university colleagues as needed. Develop, write and edit materials for public domain and department website related to the department's graduate studies program and its students. Facilitate internal communication amongst and for graduate students, including management of relevant listservs. Promote graduate studies program events and seminars to internal and external stakeholders.
The Graduate Program Coordinator will work collaboratively on other department initiatives and performs other duties as needed, including serving as back-up for other team members as needed.

Reporting to the Department of Economics’ Assistant Director of Graduate Studies, the Graduate Program Coordinator is part of the department’s Graduate Program Studies team. The Graduate Program Coordinator serves as a principal administrator for the graduate program and takes the lead on event coordination, communications activities and other general administrative support for the program, including financial processing and fellowship awards coordination and disbursements. They interact with PhD students, faculty, staff, FAS registrar, and various other constituents across the University and outside of Harvard, including HKS and HBS with whom the department has joint graduate programs.
