    Job Description

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, FUTURE ENERGY SYSTEMS CENTER (FESC) AND ENI-MIT ALLIANCE, MIT Energy Initiative (MITEI), to be responsible for the overall success of the MITEI Future Energy Systems Center (https://energy.mit.edu/futureenergysystemscenter/) , a consortium of companies funding pre-competitive energy research at MIT. Will expand the consortium membership to include a wide range of industries that are key to decarbonization; work with members to identify additional energy transition topics for the portfolio of research projects; manage relations with current members and expand those engagements into sponsored research opportunities where appropriate; collaborate with MIT professors on the selection of research projects; and manage engagements with MITEI founding member Eni. Eni has funded research at MIT in fusion, solar energy, biofuels, energy storage, e-fuels, environment, offshore wind, and carbon dioxide capture and utilization. Responsibilities include meeting with prospective member companies to explain the research activities and membership benefits; meeting with existing members to share information; working with the MITEI team to design and execute two major workshops per year; managing the overall project selection, funding, execution, and communication process; managing the center’s financial performance; working with Eni to identify potential professors to work with on new research topics; coordinating with professors and Eni to move research ideas to funded projects; following the research project progress and facilitating the translation towards real-world deployment; and collaborating on designing and managing the annual Eni-MIT meeting in Italy.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Ph.D.; seven years’ related work experience; energy system domain knowledge to enable fluency in discussions with consortium members, prospective members, and industrial and MIT researchers; experience building relationships with companies; some industry experience; and desire to help speed energy transition.
