A variety of food services duties in the main kitchen are performed including tray set up and delivery. Other duties as assigned are also performed.

Job Description:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  1. Passes menus to appropriate patients according to name and room number, and presents a positive image to the customer.

  2. Portions food for tray line.

  3. Stocks and restocks tray line stations with food supplies.

  4. Assists in loading trays onto meal trucks.

  5. Prepares and delivers patient between-meal nourishments for Mount Auburn Hospital and necessary tube feedings.

  6. Inventories par stock for specifically designated nursing units.

  7. Delivers late trays to patients.

  8. Retrieves trays from patient care area.

  9. Cleans and sanitizes assigned work area.

  10. Scrapes dishes and loads dishes and trays into dishwasher.

  11. Resets tray line for next meal.

  12. Works continuously to improve the total quality of the department and other departments within the institution.

  13. Works under the direction of the lead diet aide and food services supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Ability to read English and comprehend and follow verbal and some written instructions.

  2. Ability to read and write at level three as documented on "Invest," the hospital's Employee Learning Laboratory software.

  3. Communication skills are relevant to delivering patient trays and for all contacts in the hospital.

Physical Requirements & Environment:

  1. Thirty-three percent of the time is spent in the dish room scraping trays.

  2. Noise levels and steam cause high temperatures.

  3. Damp or wet floors.

  4. Long periods of time standing.
