Are you excited by the prospect of developing exploits, implants, and payloads to deter and defeat our Nation’s adversaries? If so, we want you to join our elite team of offensive cyberspace experts! At RTX BBN Technologies we develop creative cyber solutions for our customers' most critical, mission-focused needs. We are looking for creative, entrepreneurial, and highly motivated engineers who want to create, contribute to, and grow cutting-edge research and development projects for offensive cyberspace operations. We do more than just advanced the state-of-the-art technology—we ensure missions succeed for our customers most pressing problems!

Among the things we do:

Develop exploits, implants, payloads, and communication stacks based on extensive reverse engineering, vulnerability analysis, and software development.

Analyze systems to understand how they work and what happens when they break.

Disassemble and analyze binary code.

Develop unique networking protocols and communication schemes.

Operationalize our code by thoroughly testing, documenting, and integrating with sponsor systems.

The work is always challenging and changes from one project to the next so you will never be bored! Projects at are generally short in nature, anywhere from 6 to 18 months in length, though some are longer, and consist of small teams requiring close interaction with customers and other team members.

What will you need:

Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, mathematics, or physics with 3+ years of experience. Experience in lieu of degree will be considered.

Solid, creative programming skills using one or more of: C/C++ or Python.

Experience with assembly language (x86/64, ARM, PPC, MIPS, etc.).

Vulnerability research experience.

Reverse engineering skills using tools such as IDA/Ghidra/BinaryNinja.

Understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP stacks, wire-level protocols, RF communications, BGP, etc.).

U.S. citizenship is required with ability to ultimately obtain a TS/SCI clearance.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

Capture the Flag (CTF) experience

OS kernel development experience (e.g., Windows, Linux, MacOS, Android).

Network programming skills.

Software/Hardware emulation experience.

Working knowledge of radio frequency (RF) concepts.

Hands on experience with system architecture design, prototyping, and technical project leadership.

Authored papers and proposals.

Master's or Ph.D. in computer science, computer engineering, or electrical engineering.

Active Secret security clearance

Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. Employees are required to be on-site for 3 days per workweek. Schedule of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader.

Requires advanced knowledge of work area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience. May have practical knowledge of project

management. Practical to substantial knowledge of RTX projects, programs or systems with the ability to make enhancements and leverage in daily work.

Typically requires:

A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience

Engineering/Other Technical Positions:

Typically requires a degree in Science,Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
