responsibilities:

  • Working with various customers and partners across client, participate as a senior contributor in the implementation of next generation technology security stacks for both the cloud and on premise deployments.

  • Provide design and operational practices for Azure and AWS. For on premise, the focus of that guidance should be on network security and server security - both Windows and Linux.

  • Develop automation and supporting infrastructure to enable significantly increased agility and consumption of cloud resources. Including creating and maintaining build scripts, templates and other artifacts for the security stack

  • Establish and maintain operational processes and procedures that improve efficiencies and performance of the Network Security Firewall and UTM infrastructure (70+ FWs). Ensure that all appropriate devices are monitored, inventoried, receiving updates, licensed and life cycled.

  • Ensure alignment between security architecture frameworks, standards and overall client cloud strategy

  • Provide training on various security and cloud technologies to the team and mentor less senior engineers on cloud and security topics

  • Participate in the optimization of server side security, e.g., endpoint detection & response EDR, vulnerability management, application whitelisting, etc.

  • Serve as an escalation point for troubleshooting the most complex and challenging security related challenges

qualifications:

Typical Core Duties

  • Participate fully in the build, configuration and documentation of IT infrastructure

  • Execute technical direction ensuring stability, reliability and integration

  • Lead research and design of robust and secure IT solutions

  • Participate in long term strategic planning

  • Establish and maintain internal/external stakeholder relationships

  • Contribute to establishing guidelines and standards

  • Abide by and follow the client University IT technical standards, policies and Code of Conduct

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of seven years' post-secondary education and/or relevant work experience

Additional Qualifications

  • Deep technical knowledge of network or systems security infrastructure, such as network or host-based firewalls, IDS, IPS, proxy servers, tap, and/or SIEM solutions

  • Experience with Cloud Security and networking (Azure, AWS) is essential

  • Broad knowledge and understanding of emerging technologies, technology trends and their applicability in a university setting

  • Knowledge of Fortinet Security Suite, NetFlow, WireShark, Bro, WAF, CarbonBlack, RASP, Sandbox and Splunk a plus

  • Experience designing networks or systems for high availability, security, manageability, and reliability

skills: Certificates and Licenses

  • Completion of client IT Academy specified foundational courses (or external equivalent) preferred

  • Cloud Service Provider related certifications desired:

  • Azure Security Technologies, Azure Architect Technologies, AWS Solutions Architect, AWS Security Architect a plus

  • CISSP, CPP, CCSP, OSCP, CEH a plus

Working Conditions

  • Occasionally required to work outside of normal business hours, and may be called during off hours
