    Job Description

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT 2, Global Languages, to provide complex and diverse administrative support to Global Languages, including its academic staff, Director of administration and finance, and director. Will work with minimal supervision on prioritizing the workflow and liaising with colleagues, MIT offices, and external offices to complete projects and tasks. Primary responsibilities include planning and coordinating complex events throughout the year; supporting academic staff searches, reviews, and promotions; composing and disseminating communication materials; assisting academic staff with financial processes; office administration; and performing other duties requested.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: high school diploma or its equivalent; at least three years of administrative, office, or related experience; experience with the management and handling of confidential personnel and academic information; strong organizational skills for arranging and completing tasks with sometimes conflicting and changing priorities; close attention to detail; ability to use interpersonal skills and online resources to research and collect information; strong writing and copyediting skills; proficiency with Mac OS and Microsoft Office applications and experience using Adobe visual design software; and ability and willingness to learn new software and applications. PREFERRED: bachelor’s degree; MIT experience; familiarity with Institute policies, procedures, and administrative tools/applications; and visual design experience and/or familiarity with basic visual design concepts.
