Meta Research Engineer - Computer Vision & Machine Learning for Audio in Cambridge, United Kingdom

Summary:

At Meta Reality Labs Research, we aspire to achieve a vision of social presence in VR and AR where people are able to interact with each other across distances in a way that is indistinguishable from in-person interactions. We are looking for exceptional Research Engineers who are excited about innovating upon research prototypes to make them well-engineered systems. You will act as a bridge between world-class researchers and engineers, collaborating together on the innovation necessary to build the foundations of social presence technology. At our lab, you will be exposed to facilities, algorithms, and data that are years ahead of anything else in existence today. We want people who work well across disciplines, are excited about getting research prototypes to really work, and are excited to work in new technology areas.

Required Skills:

Research Engineer - Computer Vision & Machine Learning for Audio Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with researchers to model, design, develop and test novel audio and speech processing algorithms using machine learning, signal processing, and computer vision.

  2. Develop creative machine learning software in support of audio research for Meta AR and VR

  3. Design and implement novel algorithms to solve audio research problems.

  4. Research and prototype techniques and algorithms for 2D/3D object detection and recognition

  5. Plan and execute cutting-edge research to advance machine perception technology and user context understanding

  6. Develop robust software for integrating multiple sensors and scene understanding systems

  7. Collaborate with researchers and engineers across diverse disciplines.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.

  2. 3+ years experience with machine learning tecniques

  3. 2+ years of experience engineering in C++, Matlab, or Python

  4. 2+ Experience with computer vision/machine learning libraries such as OpenCV / Torch

  5. Knowledge in audio, machine learning, information theory, and 3D geometry

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Strong understanding of computer vision and 3D geometry concepts, with experience in developing and deploying computer vision applications.

  2. Experiences in working with large-scale datasets through semi-supervision and self-supervision

  3. 3+ years of experience in the field of 2D/3D scene understanding with CV/ML in production

  4. Publication track record at conferences such as SIGGRAPH, CVPR, NIPS, ECCV, ICCV, ISMAR, ICML, etc.

  5. Experience with annotation tooling and techniques for labeling and annotating data, including bounding boxes, keypoints, and semantic segmentation.
