Electronics/Firmware Engineer

We are currently looking for an Electronics/Firmware Engineer to join our team in Camas WA .  This role is This role is in-office at Camas WA HQ.  The pay range is 100k-145k/year

Primary Function:

The Electronics/Firmware Engineer is responsible for the Design and evaluate electronic systems and firmware.

Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities:

  • Work with clients to capture system requirements and design system to meet requirements.

  • Design and implement firmware systems to interact with various hardware to drive/control electronic and electro/mechanical devices:

  • Program various microprocessors using low level languages (predominately C)

  • Create communication code utilizing protocols such as I2C , SPI, and UART

  • Create code to control microcontroller peripherals

  • Analyze, diagnose, and debug existing code.

  • Write and execute testing plans.

  • Electronics Engineering: requirements assessment, embedded system architecture, component selection, design, simulation, review, schematic capture, PCB layout, manufacturing and assembly support, debug, test, and written reports and documentation.

  • Utilize a variety of Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools (based on Customer demand) to capture schematics, lay out PCBAs, generate fabrication and assembly release packages, etc.

  • Operate as the sole EE/FW engineer on cross-functional engineering project teams: demonstrate confidence and technical competence to both internal and external Customers.

  • Design and analyze electronic devices to global standards and regulations, including (but not limited to) those for safety and electromagnetic compatibility.

  • Have a willingness and aptitude to work on either EE or FW only projects, depending on current need.

  • Manage time to produce results within allocated timeframe.

  • Demonstrate behavior consistent with SIGMADESIGN Core Values.

  • Follow Business Technology policies to protect sensitive data and reduce information security occurrences

    Education and Experience: (Knowledge, skills, & abilities)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.

  • Minimum of 5 years work experience as a degreed engineer.

  • Experience in Agile/Scrum and Waterfall Development Methods preferred.

  • Experience with firmware architecture required.

  • Utilize a variety of Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools (Altium preferred) to capture schematics, lay out PCBAs, generate fabrication and assembly release packages.

  • Operation of test equipment, including (but not limited) to: oscilloscopes, multimeters, spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, power supplies, electronic loads required.

  • Proficiency in Design for Manufacture (DFM), Electrical Safety, Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) including Electrostatic Discharge (ESD), Signal Integrity (SI), and Power Integrity (PI) preferred.

  • Demonstrated mastery of embedded digital and analog electronic system design and PCB layout best practices required.

  • Demonstrated programming capability in C required (Python, C++ a plus).

  • Experience programming:

  • Variety of processors architecture (including ARM, AVR, MPS430).

  • Variety of different OS as well as bare metal systems

  • GCC, Keil or Code Composer Studio or equivalent environments.

  • Wired and Wireless communication protocols such as USB, TCP/IP, BLE, Wi-Fi

  • Knowledge of firmware testing methodology, including writing and execution of test plans, debugging, and testing scripts and tools.

  • Strong written and verbal English language communication skills.

  • Excellent teamwork/interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, both within and outside one's own work group.

    Work Environment

    Standard office environment with normal amounts of office related conditions.
