Job Description Job Title:Inspector A *Scope: Non-Supervisory position Summary: Inspects incoming materials, various machined parts and assemblies for conformance to specifications. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: *

  • Visually, mechanically and physically inspects various purchased, machined and assembled product against drawings and specifications.
  • Interprets documents such as engineering drawings, specifications, test reports and certifications to verify product conformance.
  • Uses a wide variety of measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, bore gages, plug and ring gages, thread gages, optical comparator, hardness tester, and coordinate measuring machine.
  • Performs calibration of company and employee owned measuring equipment.
  • Completes various documents used for records of product acceptance and maintains the integrity of these records for audit and traceability purposes.
  • Assists with purging and screening of defective product when necessary.
  • Assists and trains less experienced inspection personnel
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by Supervision or Management.
  • Responsible for following company policies and safety guidelines.
  • Responsible for, and given organizational freedom to report quality deficiencies, recommend solutions, and implement approved corrective and preventative actions

Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and one to five years related experience, or equivalent combination of education/experience. Skills and Abilities: Able to read and understand complex blueprints, specifications, test reports and manufacturing related documents such as manufacturing routers and equipment manuals. Proficient in using all measuring instruments commonly used at Wilwood, including the CMM. Able to setup and inspect complex cast and machine components using multiple methods. Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers and decimals. Able to interpret blueprints and apply inspection techniques per ANSI Y14.5.
