Responsibilities

How you’ll perform the role.

Beginning as an Extrusion Operator Trainee, you will learn the basics and start in our Converting operation making mushroom film. There you will begin to understand the production systems we use, learn about film quality and food quality, resins, customer specifications, packaging, and many more critical items on your way to becoming a successful Operator. Items include:

Inspects supplier materials/boxes for defects, printing, labeling, and UPC coding accuracy.

  • Determines raw material inventory (boxes, cutter edges, shrink wrap material, etc.) before assembly.

  • Reviews production orders and stages all raw materials.

  • Reviews production orders and note any special requirements.

  • Operate lift truck vehicle to transport materials to assembly/staging point.

  • Supplies machine location(s) with needed materials.

  • Removes finished good from production area and prepares/packages and palletizes film rolls according to order specification.

  • Completes/inspects/labels finished goods, WIP, and scrap requirements as specified.

  • Completes inventory processing to account for finished goods, WIP, raw materials, packaging supplies and scrap materials.

  • Enters work order data/move tickets into production system via scan, data entry, or similar means.

  • Ensures finished goods packaging is free of defects and meets shipping requirements.

  • Moves final product to Shipping dock for transport to warehouse.

  • May assist shipper/receiver when needed.

  • Operate robotic film line as needed and fill in for breaks.

  • This is a multi-task position job where you will learn several activities.

Our extrusion equipment produces rolls of plastic film for food packaging.

Qualifications

What we need from you .

  • Basic math and measurement taking skills.

  • Good computer aptitude and experience.

  • Ability to work 12 hour shifts and provide overtime coverage for off shift when needed. 36/48 hour bi-weekly work weeks.

  • Be able to perform basic visual quality inspections on products.

  • Desire an assignment that keeps you busy, is less repetitive, and requires your engagement and team work.

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); two+ years related material handling/fork lift experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to work 12 hour shifts and provide overtime coverage for off shift when needed. 4 days on / 4 days off work schedule.

  • Prior fork lift certification preferred.
