Insight Global OT Specialist in Calgary, Alberta

Job Description

Insight Global is looking for an Network/OT Specialist for a full-time, permanent position with an oil and gas company located in downtown Calgary. The ideal candidate will work in office 5 days per week and join a growing team. Occasional day travel around the Alberta region to field sites would be required (20% of the time). This person will be responsible for implementing and maintaining network infrastructure within industrial and field environments. The role requires extensive knowledge of SCADA network architectures and regulatory requirements specific to the oil/gas industry. Day to Day responsibilities include:

  • Network design and implementation - design/deploy functional networks, install/configure network hardware, ensure security/connectivity

  • Maintenance and troubleshooting - perform routine OT system monitoring, resolve issues for cloud and local infrastructure

  • Compliance and cybersecurity - implement security measures, ensure network security compliance with industry standards, system audits

  • Project management - manage, configure and install server/network infrastructure projects, collaborate with contractors and IT/OT personnel

  • Field support - onsite field support for network setups in remote locations, adapt infrastructure based on field-specific needs/conditions, remote assistance with RDP/Screen Connect/VSphere, Windows Server administration

  • Documentation - create/maintain comprehensive documentation of network setup, configuration, troubleshooting, guides and changes

Skills and Requirements

5+ years of experience as a Field Network Tech or similar role, with focus on industrial or oil/gas industries (gas plant, power plant, oil rig, etc.)

Experience with network traffic analysis, monitoring and diagnostic tools (SolarWinds, Wireshark, Ping, PuTTY, Trace Route, nslookup, etc.)

Strong understanding of network infrastructure and hardware, with experience implementing network designs from engineering groups

Strong communication, work ethic and ability to work as a team and independently Experience administering and maintaining SCADA applications (PLC, HMI, logic programming, industrial automation)

Knowledge of coding languages for scripting (SQL, Python, VB)

Familiarity with cybersecurity standards and protocols (ISA/IEC 62443)

CCNA, Network+, CISSP, GICSP certifications

Field Safety certifications - H2S, First-Aid, WHMIS, TDG

Understanding of Palo Alto and Aruba network equipment and software null
