Citadel Drilling Manager of Financial Reporting in Calgary, Alberta

Citadel Drilling Ltd. (“Citadel”) is currently seeking candidates to fill the role of Manager of Financial Reporting (“MFR”) based out of the Calgary corporate office. The MFR will report directly to the CFO and work closely with all members of the finance department and the corporate management team.

About the Manager of Financial Reporting position

The MFR will be instrumental in working within the organization to clearly communicate the financial performance of the organization to internal management and external stakeholders. The MFR will be responsible for the preparation and analysis of financial and operational reporting for all Citadel business units, including the preparation of interim and year-ending financial statements and footnotes, adhering to ASPE framework. The MFR will oversee Citadel’s budgeting and forecasting cycle, including investments in new technologies. The MFR will be key in telling the story of Citadel’s growth and success to management and stakeholders, through the analysis of business trends, and communication of the financial well-being and operating performance of the organization. Strong analytical and communication skills, the capacity for critical thinking, and the ability to interact with all levels of corporate and divisional management are crucial to success in this position.

Responsibilities

• Oversee corporate budgeting and forecasting processes for various business units, including return on   investment analysis of annual capital investments plans.

• Preparation of corporate financial reporting in accordance with ASPE framework and deliver business insights   through periodic Shareholder disclosures and monthly management information packages.

• Effective communication of business results and assist management in interpreting trends by digging into the   details of financial reports and providing explanations for significant variances of results compared to plans.

• Keep up to date with changes in reporting requirements including technical accounting research and   preparation of audit memos regarding complex accounting treatments, required disclosures, and continually   evaluating the effectiveness of statement presentation.

• Contribute to the continued improvement of the Finance team by reviewing current business processes and   providing input to help advance department innovation.

• Assist with Finance department documentation and internal controls. Ensure the documentation of corporate   accounting policy decisions is up to date and assist with control testing.

• Together with the Finance management team, act as a liaison with auditors during annual year-end   engagements and throughout the Company’s corporate audit planning sessions.

• Focus on process improvement through the organization or reporting data, forecast version controls, and   improving modelling.

• Other senior accounting duties and responsibilities as assigned by the CFO.

Qualifications, Skills, and Education Requirements

• Commitment to Citadel’s Purpose and shared belief in the Company’s Core Values.

• Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting, a professional accounting designation.

• Minimum three (3) to five (5) years in a professional finance role with strong consideration given for previous   financial statement audit experience with an accounting firm.

• Corporate tax return review experience would be considered an asset.

• Experienced working knowledge of financials statement presentation and disclosures for reporting under IFRS   or ASPE frameworks.

• Service-oriented approach to supporting Operations as well as the ability to build strong working relationships   with all department managers and staff.

• First-rate computer skills including proficiency in Excel, working with Microsoft Dynamics GP, Solver Financial     Planning software, or other advanced report creation or BI platforms would be considered an asset.

• Ability to effectively supervise and mentor other staff members and direct reports where assigned.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills including financial presentation acumen.
