Hotel Arts Group Catering & Event Services Manager in Calgary, Alberta

Hotel Arts is currently seeking a Catering & E vent Services Manager. This position is responsible for selling and servicing all catering food, beverage, and room rental revenues in the hotel for a specific market. 

Catering & Event Services Manager highlights:

  • Ability to solicit and generate new business

  • Work alongside event planners to coordinate the appropriate catering.

  • Coordinate and execute all catering aspects – primarily about food & beverage, including set up details, agenda and all other event arrangements necessary to ensure client objectives and expectations are met

  • Assist and negotiate with clients in menu planning, beverage requirements, room setup, audio and visual requests, detailing and securing services of outside vendors

  • Contact the client and confirm times, function space requirements, expected attendance and other pertinent details

  • Prepare BEOs (Banquet Event Orders) for all functions and group resumes if required as per Hotel Arts standards

  • Prepare and enforce Catering Agreements as outlined within the hotel's policy

  • Coordinate and communicate accurate and up-to-date changes 

  • Coordinate outside vendor activity as necessary

  • Prepare and process correspondence and contracts

  • Maintain pricing integrity and propose upscale menus for all groups 

  • Upholds the contracted agreement between the Hotel and the group

  • Works with all related Hotel departments involved in the execution of respective functions

  • Upon completion of the event, ensure post-event follow-up with the client

  • Conduct and participate in site visits and plan meetings with prospective clients when required

    The successful candidate will embody the following:

  • Possesses a solid working knowledge of hotel sales platforms such as Opera.

  • Must be available to work evenings and weekends as necessary.

  • Develop positive and productive working relationships with all related departments, particularly on Event operations, food and beverage, and sales team colleagues.

    Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 1-2 years experience in a hotel catering, events, meetings or conference role.

  • Demonstrates a sound working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.

  • Possesses comprehensive knowledge of set-ups, event space and functionality.

  • Demonstrates a sound working knowledge of Events Operations and all related equipment and inventory.

    This is a permanent sales-based position. Compensation includes a full-time salary plus bonus eligibility once the sales target is achieved.
