Transportation Operations Supervisor (Caldwell, ID)

Simplot Company is a true farm-to-table company with operations that touch every aspect of agriculture, including seed production, farming and ranching, plant sciences, fertilizer manufacturing, food processing, commercial product development, and distribution.

Summary

The position is responsible for the supervision, leadership, and disciplinary actions of direct reporting driver roles. The role ensures drivers are meeting their performance responsibilities and are exceling at meeting Company objectives for Safety & Service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible to model and prioritize safety at Transportation locations and ensures employees and contractors are performing work safely.

  • Implements Corporate, Food Group, and Transportation policies and procedures consistently with employees.

  • Performs normal management responsibilities for direct reports including interviews, routine performance reviews, addresses disciplinary items / employee complaints, and conducts administrative tasks.

  • Ensures equipment assigned to the designated location is available, properly maintained for work assignments, including coordination of repairs with vendors.

  • Represent company interests while building relationships with assigned contractors to meet company objectives

  • Actively monitors Company driver & contractor performance through site visits, ride-along, and available reporting. Ex. ELD, dash cameras, etc.

  • Hours of service auditing.

  • Responsible to generate, monitor, and drive results consistent with company objectives through weekly, monthly & annual reporting.

  • Ensures all hourly employees’ timecards are reviewed daily and approves timecards bi-weekly for payroll processing.

Typical Education

  • Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university

Relevant Experience

  • 3 years people leader experience and/or training

  • Commercial Trucking Experience

Other Information

  • Aware of regulatory agency policies and procedures, such as FMCSA, DOT, OSHA, and EPA.

  • Ability to establish good communication, identify complex issues, and effectively problem solve, while building working relationships with Transportation locations, other Company departments, and vendors to achieve business needs.

  • Competent with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
