JOB SUMMARY

Produces a variety of high quality geographic and demographic materials for marketing and market analysis purposes. Is proficient in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures and assists other GIS staff. Demonstrates the ability to take on larger assignments, while maintaining efficiencies and quality. Have proven their ability to enhance the products being developed and shows moderate knowledge of complex methods.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Demonstrates superior speed and efficiency in their work and stabilizes workflow with little or no guidance.

Takes initiative to research data on a consistent basis.

Consistently assists team and mapping professionals with mapping workload overflow, with their individual workload permitting.

Demonstrates the ability to build close relationships with internal clients to better address their needs and provides advancements to their products and services.

Consults with sales professionals to define project requirements, investigating various approaches to the attainment of end results.

Develops advanced specialized maps, utilizing geographic and demographic information while adhering to company policy on quality assurance and quality checks.

Extracts demographic and other information from various databases for use in maps or reports.

Advises sales professionals and management regarding demographic and geographic information available to incorporate into maps.

Obtains and maintains accurate market data (e.g., existing and proposed locations of office buildings, malls, shopping centers, retailers).

Logs and prioritizes work assignments using the company's proprietary web-based map ordering and workflow management system.

Constantly updates mapping templates with new data for use in the map library.

Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university with a major or minor in Geography or related field; or Associates degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, with training in GIS technology. Requires 0 to 3 years of experience.

CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES

None.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers. Ability to effectively present information.

FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE

Requires knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate intermediate figures such as percentages, discounts, and/or commissions. Conducts basic financial analysis.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to understand and carry out general instructions in standard situations. Ability to solve problems in standard situations. Requires intermediate analytical and quantitative skills.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES

Ability to work with mathematical concepts and apply operations such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. Advanced proficiency in MapInfo or Atlas GIS, word processing, spreadsheet and presentation applications required. Knowledge of GIS terms and definitions required. Proficiency in MapInfo Professional (or similar application) and GIS-related technologies required. Knowledge of Company information systems preferred.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY

Decisions made with general understanding of procedures and company policies to achieve set results and deadlines. Errors in judgment may cause short-term impact to co-workers and supervisor.
