SUMMARY - The Product Engineer for specials manages the creation of technical and detailed design drawings using CAD software for new products. Special products are created from the closest standard product and modified to fit the customer need. Extensions and Enhancements for existing product lines will be roughly 10-15% of new work.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintain Product Integrity, with the use of hand calculations.

  • Product maintenance and process ECNs as needed.

  • Maintain ERP/MRP data per established standards.

  • Create and translate Solid Works Models and drawings into complete ERP setup for special products as needed.

  • Develop methods of manufacture to serve as both process instruction and a basis for costing parts.

  • Review and Modify Solid Works models as needed.

  • Create extensions and enhancements to existing product lines.

  • Coordinate the Engineering Change Process and execute.

  • Work directly with Manufacturing Engineering daily.

  • Product Engineering will function as the interface between the Product team and production.

  • Work safely and follows all company rules and procedures.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred, or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum of two years’ experience product engineering, preferably in furniture industry preferred. Automotive or other may be acceptable.

  • Proficient in Solid Works. Auto Cad and Corel Draw proficiency preferred

  • Strong verbal abilities and good written and analytical skills.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, show facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, team environment.

  • Agile and initiative-taking learner.

  • Basic understanding of wood and wood processing.

  • Knowledge of Aluminum, Steel mechanical properties and the manufacturing processes for each.
