Atlas Roofing Corporation Human Resources Generalist in Byron Center, Michigan

Atlas Molded Products, (a division of Atlas Roofing Corporation) is seeking a Human Resources Generalist for the Byron Center, Michigan facility.

The Human Resource Generalist supports company initiatives by administering HR policies, procedures, and programs, and coordinating day to day HR activities in designated business units, and overseeing corporate projects, as requested. This position reports to, and works closely with, the Senior HR Manager.

The Human Resources Generalist provides multi-site support. While mostly a consistent schedule, some flexibility is required as this position supports 3 shifts daily, as well as other locations in different time zones.

Human Resources Generalist Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Conducts recruitment efforts for multiple plants at one time: including writing and placing job advertisements, screening, interviewing, and assisting with the selection process. Also works with agencies for temp placements across facilities.
  • Conducts new hire and benefits orientations. Processes paperwork and addresses employees' questions about benefits, payroll, and company policies.
  • Processes and administers FMLA and ADA requests, in conjunction with AMPs third party provider.
  • Monitors and assists with the performance evaluation program.
  • Provides guidance to managers on the appropriate use of company policies. Acts as a witness and documents meetings as necessary.
  • Investigates employee relation issues such as complaints and allegations of harassment, discrimination, and violations of company policy. Interview subjects, collect evidence and write reports as necessary.
  • Conducts exit interviews and analyzes data to make recommendations for improving retention.
  • Maintains the HRIS records and compiles reports from the database.
  • Maintains HR files in accordance with company policy and applicable State and Federal laws and regulations.
  • Conducts training, as needed, for all on-sight personnel at locations for which s/he has oversight.
  • Tracks compensation and turnover at locations for which s/he has oversite.
  • Attends meetings and seminars; works cooperatively with other departments.
  • Actively participates on various committees as requested.
  • Performs audits and ensures compliance within the department.
  • Can generate reports, interpret data, and complete monthly HR metrics.
  • Leads and coordinates employee engagement program on monthly basis.
  • Assists with the company wellness program.
  • Manages special projects as assigned.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Human Resources Generalist Education and Experience:

  • A bachelor's degree in Human Resources, or related field and 2 years of human resource experience; or any combination of education, training or experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

Human Resources Generalist Preferred Experience and Certification:

  • Prior HR generalist experience.
  • Prior business experience and/or manufacturing experience.
