Plan and prepare nutritionally balanced meals that meet the federal programs that provide healthy food to children (National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program, Child and Adult Care Food Program, Summer Food Service Program, and Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program). The cook also interacts with students during meal times, talking with them about food education.
