Job Summary

The Bartender is responsible for preparing food and drink orders serving beverages and meals to patrons as regulated by state and federal age requirements. The FOH is a trusted, respected, and engaged key staff member that represents our values and has a positive impact on the team. This position is a for team members interested in expanding their skills and impacting our business.This includes holding standards, resolving conflicts, owning guest turnarounds, positive communication, exemplifying our service standards, maintaining organization, executing side work, professionalism and excitement about our shared vision of the property. The goal is a restaurant system that cleans, organizes, preps, and communicates well as it operates. A critically important responsibility of the position is to be a cohesive part of a team, on the floor and in the service stations to set the tone and maintain momentum. Execute quality shifts and great guest experiences. Most importantly, HAVE FUN AND LEARN FROM YOUR PEERS!

Responsibilities

QUALIFICATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • High School diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or a related field preferred.

  • Alcohol Awareness Certification (must comply with State regulations)

  • Food Handlers certification (must comply with State regulations)

  • Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.

  • Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.

  • Must work well in stressful high pressure situations.

  • Pre/Post shift cleaning and organization to ensure a smooth service

  • Proper, positive, and timely Compass Meeting participation in cooperation with the Manager or GM.

  • Timely and informative Shift Notes with critique of the shift and critical notes for tomorrow.

  • Engage in shifts with positivity, momentum, and focus that result in magic and memories.

  • Cultivate positive guest experience from host stand / initial welcome, steps of service, quality food and drink, recognition, and a gracious goodbye.

  • Consistently support our culture of teamwork and act as a harmonizing influence by maintaining quality relationships with co-workers.

  • Promotes proper communication, sharing of ideas, cooperation, consensus building, and problem solving any issue within the restaurant.

  • Assist in training if asked and support a team of hospitality hearted professionals as a peer and example setter. Focus on exemplifying the following every shift:

  • Policies and procedures

  • Service standards and product knowledge

  • Expectations for cleanliness, organization, and attention to detail

  • Actively participates in an environment of constant, open, and collaborative communication, and improvement that leads to a proactive, prepared, and successful business machine.

  • Comply at all times with Aimbridge Hospitality standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.

  • Comply with certification requirements as applicable to position to include Alcohol Awareness Food Handlers Safety etc.

  • Be familiar with the organization of the restaurant and know the function of each job position.

  • Have a thorough knowledge of menus and specials in the restaurant.

  • Service guests with all food and beverage requirements in a warm friendly courteous and professional manner.

  • Clear clean and reset tables as needed.

  • Carry out cashiering functions in closing checks and end of shift paperwork.

  • Perform opening and closing procedures and side work duties according to station rotation assignment.

  • Ensure that tables and side stands are kept stocked tidy and clean.

  • Perform other tasks/jobs as assigned by the supervisor or manager.

  • Checks identification of customers to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol.

  • Presents menu answers questions and takes food and beverage orders from guests and/or serving staff.

  • Prepares drink orders including wine liquor and beer.

  • Prepare appetizers and food items according to recipes and standards.

  • Monitors seating in lounge/bar area ensuring all guests are served.

  • Computes bill and accepts payment; tracks and balances sales receipts.

  • Attempts to limit problems and liability related to customers' excessive drinking by taking steps such as discontinuing alcohol service and notifying management of potential problem(s).

  • Clean bars work areas and tables as well as glasses utensils and bar equipment.

  • Maintains kitchen and lounge station by keeping area tidy; clean and stock kitchen and bar at the end of each shift.

  • Plan organize and control the operations of the lounge/bar area.

  • Slice and pit fruit for garnishing drinks.

  • Arrange bottles and glasses to make attractive displays.

  • Create drink recipes.

  • Inventories liquor food supplies and equipment weekly. Order or requisition supplies as needed.

  • Ensures all temp logs and waste logs are maintained daily.

  • Receives dates and examines foodstuffs and supplies to ensure quality and quantity meet established standards and specifications.

  • Ensures tips are reported properly for tax processing.

  • Other duties as assigned.
