What will you do?

Join Siemens as a Factory Automation Specialist and be at the forefront of an exciting venture - the establishment of a new battery plant in Canada. As an Embedded Engineer stationed at customer location, you will play a pivotal role in representing Siemens and shaping the future of sustainable energy solutions.

  • Collaborate with OEMs and end customers during commissioning to understand plant processes, providing extensive product support on-site.

  • Provide technical support to customers for the adoption of Siemens products and services, particularly in the context of the new battery plant.

  • Assist in the co-development and implementation of cutting-edge automation standards specific to the battery manufacturing industry.

  • Identify opportunities for system optimization, upgrades, and innovative solutions tailored to the unique requirements of a battery plant.

  • Coordinate work schedules with Service Supervisors and Project Managers, ensuring efficient resource allocation.

  • Maintain productivity and efficiency in line with set targets.

  • Adhere to ISO9000 standards and company quality assurance procedures, contributing to the establishment of best practices in the rapidly growing field of battery production.

  • Provide timely documentation including work reports, timesheets, and expense reports.

  • Represent the company professionally at customer premises, establishing strong working relationships.

What will you need to succeed?

  • Degree in Electrical or Automation Engineering, or related field.

  • 5-10 years in customer service, preferably in industrial automation for emerging industries.

  • Strong background in SIMATIC hardware (S7-1200, S7-1500) and software (TIA Portal V16+).

  • Proven expertise in PLC programming (SCL, LAD, STL), commissioning, and troubleshooting.

  • Experience in industrial sectors such as battery manufacturing, automotive, packaging, or food and beverage.

  • Advanced working knowledge of Siemens HMI Hardware (Unified Comfort Panel) and software (SIMATIC WinCC Unified).

  • Familiarity with SINAMICS drives, and related commissioning tools.

  • Proficiency with industrial communication protocols (Modbus TCP, OPC UA, PROFINET, BACnet).

  • Understanding of machine operating standards (PackML, ISA-88).

  • Experience with functional safety using TIA Portal Safety Advanced, ensuring the highest standards of safety in the operation of automated systems.

  • Strong diagnostic, programming, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent organizational, multitasking, and adaptive skills for a dynamic production environment.

  • Self-motivated, technologically adept, with excellent communication skills and a passion for innovation
