Actalent Controls Engineer in Burlington, North Carolina

Job Title: Controls EngineerJob Description

In the Controls Engineer role, you will design and program control systems per customer and company specifications and complete critical project documents.

  • Develop controls engineering and design strategies to meet the applicable requirements.

  • Design control systems and select components to meet required specifications on new projects.

  • Select instrumentation to meet required specifications on new projects.

  • Prepare project documentation relating to instrumentation and controls components, including spec sheets, design drawings, O&M manuals, and validation documents, as applicable.

  • Develop well-documented PLC programs using current programming software from Rockwell Automation and Siemens.

  • Develop user-friendly HMI applications using current programming software from Rockwell Automation and Siemens.

  • Support ongoing system operation with troubleshooting and updates. Execute special projects and other duties, as assigned.

  • Manage time and workload to meet company deadlines.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, or 3 years of equivalent experience

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, PLC ladder logic programming, HMI application development

  • Familiarity of industrial instrumentation and control components and systems including, but not limited to, PLC/PAC, analyzers, sensors, valves, power supplies, wiring devices, variable frequency drives, and motor control

  • Proficiency in these software packages is preferred: RSLogix 500, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View Studio

  • Ability to read and design electrical schematics

  • Aptitude to troubleshoot industrial control systems

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Self-motivated, organized, and capable of staying cool under pressure from multiple ongoing projects
