Oversees schedules, provides class instruction, and assists Radiology Students during their Clinical Practicum for up to 18 students from Regis College, Bunker Hill Community College, MCPHS and Middlesex Community College (MCC). Acts as the liaison between the colleges and the Department of Diagnostic Radiology. Performs all duties as a Technologist as needed.

Job Description:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:

  • Provides new Radiology Students (RT) with departmental and hospital orientation.

  • Maintains all documentation on students through the two year program adhering to the standards of Regis, Bunker Hill Community College, MCPHS, and MCC.

  • Conducts on-site classes for students in conjunction with Regis, Bunker Hill Community College, MCPHS, and MCC - prepares and provides handouts and visual aids as needed.

  • Monitors students progress during the practicum at Lahey Clinic.

  • Provides students with counseling, tutoring, feedback or disciplinary actions as required.

  • Adheres to the specific requirements outlined in the contractual agreement between Lahey Clinic/ Regis, Bunker Hill Community College, MCPHS, and MCC.

  • Acts as the liaison between the colleges and the Department of Diagnostic radiology to promote a best practice in the field of instructing Radiology Students.

  • Attends Clinical Instructor meetings at Regis, Bunker Hill Community College, MCPHS, and MCC

  • Must achieve and maintain specialized certification in the modalities in which the colleague practices.

  • Must be licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ Department of Public Health: Radiation Control Program if modality in which the colleague practices requires the utilization of ionizing radiation.

  • Maintains strict adherence to the Lahey Clinic Confidentiality Policy.

  • Incorporates Lahey Clinic Guiding Principles , Mission statement and goals into daily activities.

  • Complies with all Lahey Clinic policies.

  • Complies with behavioral expectations of the department and Lahey Clinic.

  • Maintains courteous and effective interactions with colleagues and patients.

  • Demonstrates an understanding of the job description, performance expectations, and competency assessment.

  • Demonstrates a commitment toward meeting and exceeding the needs of our customers and consistently adheres to Customer Service standards.

  • Participates in departmental and/or interdepartmental quality improvement activities.

  • Participates in and successfully completes Mandatory Education.

  • Performs all other duties as needed or directed to meet the needs of the department.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

Graduate of an Accredited School of Radiologic Technology

Bachelor's degree preferred.

Licensure, Certification, Registration: ARRT Registered and Licensed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts; BLS (Basic Life Support).

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Excellent interpersonal skills, Excellent Written and oral skills, basic computer skills.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as a staff technologist in a tertiary care setting.
