This administrative/customer service staff position may be the first face of the organization when a patient visits and can have a dramatic impact on making individuals feel welcomed and ease their anxiety by starting their hospital visit professionally. In addition this position impacts patient safety and clinical care by ensuring the patient identifiers are correct and on reimbursement by collecting accurate insurance information and co-pays.

Working in Patient Access and as a member of the Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH) System Services team, you can have a career that allows you to grow and advance while making a difference in people’s lives. By leveraging resources across the organization, we're able to provide high-quality, high-value care to the patients and the communities we proudly serve.

The Patient Access Specialist plays a critical role at BILH and Lahey Hospital & Medical Center as the first point of contact with our patients. Extensive training including Epic Electronic Medical Record (EMR) is provided. Our team works in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, helping our patients navigate their health care journey.

Positions available in Burlington-Mon-Fri, 8-4:30PM (Other shifts include 7-3:30, 7:30-4PM, and some evening and weekend shifts available). Most positions are on site in Burlington with some hybrid (on site and remote schedules) available.

Departments include: Registration and Scheduling (reg and sched), Call Center, Admissions and ED registration. Most positions are full time, but we have part time and per diem shifts available too!

Performs a variety of functions to support an accurate, safe and customer-focused patient access process. Ensures that all proper patient financial and demographic information is obtained and processed so BILH and LHMC is fully reimbursed for clinical services provided. Handles patient questions and requests accurately and efficiently, ideally with first call resolution, or by making appropriate referrals to other departments, based on the original purpose of the question and any other questions or requests subsequently disclosed by the patient. Ensures that the patient experience in accessing healthcare at LHMC is efficient and welcoming, and that patient confidentiality is respected and patient safety is preserved.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

High school degree or equivalent

Experience:

Prior experience in a business setting providing customer service, while simultaneously processing and verifying electronic demographic, financial or other business-related information and data.
