Reporting to the Director of Public Health for the Town of Burlington, the Community Outreach Worker is responsible for supporting public health departments with providing residents with health related resources and facilitating public health programs for the Tri-Ton Coalition, an inter-municipal shared services program serving the Towns of Burlington, Lexington, and Wilmington.

Essential functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Educate members of the community about health and wellness issues and practices.

  • Provide literature, organize events, or communicate directly with community members on topics such as disease prevention, access to medical care, and development of healthy habits.

  • Work with public health departments, community stakeholders, and other health outreach workers to develop outreach programs and campaigns.

  • Attend classes and other Town offered trainings to maintain current knowledge of required equipment and procedures.

  • Conduct educational programs and outreach and work with community partners on substance use and behavioral and mental health issues.

  • Work with municipalities on specific programs formed in response to the Opioid Recovery and Remediation Fund (ORRF)

  • Performs other duties related to the primary scope of the position as required.

    Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree in health or human services, or a related field. Excellent communication skills and the willingness to work with underserved populations is required. Bilingual abilities are a plus.

    This is a part time, grant funded position through June, 2025 with potential to expand beyond that. Starting salary is $35.00 per hour with a maximum of 19 hours per week.
