*POSITION SUMMARY * The Journeyman I&C Technician will provide leadership, experience, knowledge and skill to perform maintenance, calibrations, modifications and testing on plant systems and equipment. Technicians have the knowledge and skill to use various test equipment to perform maintenance. Technicians provide feedback on procedure corrections, work instruction, walk downs, job preparation and execution.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Performance of I&C activities including troubleshooting, surveillance, calibration, repairs, reworks, removal/installation, and preventative maintenance throughout the plant. As progress is made through the training program, participants will assist in "moderately complex" I&C tasks as assigned requiring application of knowledge and skills. Ensure components and equipment within system are maintained and operate efficiently. All activities will be in accordance with plant procedures and accomplished in a safe and effective manner.

Perform certain aspects in development, preparation, department interface, performance, and documentation of assigned activities.

Brief, lead, and coordinate work crews to complete work in a safe and efficient manner.

Train and develop personnel in technical knowledge and skills, in accordance with station policies and procedures.

Assist in performing administrative duties, including M&TE evaluations, budget input, self-assessments, procedure development, work orders, correction and validation.

Provide walkdowns, peer evaluations, and job critiques.

Read and understand system prints, schematics, logic diagrams, binary numbering, procedures and vendor manuals.

Identify and promptly report incidents, events, deviations, deficiencies or discrepancies relating to plant conditions, Technical Specifications, licenses, permits, or quality programs.

Upon qualification, perform related tasks such as E-plan, job critiques, fire watch, confined space, requisitions, walk downs, and peer evaluations.

Perform other duties as assigned by supervision/management.

*REQUIREMENTS * Regulatory Requirements:

The individuals fulfilling the function of journeyman level Instrumentation & Controls Techniciansshallhave three years workingexperiencein the field of instrumentation and controls, of which one yearshouldberelated technical training.

Additional WCNOC Requirements:

This position requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent and five years relevant experience (one year of which shall be in nuclear instrumentation and controls) or an Associate degree in a relevant technical field and four years relevant experience (one year of which shall be in nuclear instrumentation and controls) or a Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field and three years relevant experience (one year of which shall be in nuclear instrumentation and controls).__

Relevant experience is defined as analog and digital process controls and measurements.

Relevant technical field is Instrumentation, which includes electrical, electronics and process controls.

*ADDITIONAL INFORMATION * This position requires the successful completion of the MASS test. (NOTE: This is inapplicable to incumbent Journeyman and Masters in the positions on or before 9/16/2005.)

Management has the right to require this position to pass and maintain respirator fit and qualification when necessary. This is not an essential function of every technician position, but management retains its rights to ensure adequate numbers of respirator-qualified personnel to meet station requirements.

This position requires a satisfactory work record including good attendance.
