The team is a diverse group of problem solvers, inventors, and proven visionaries who are relentless about transforming everyday occurrences into rich experiences that have the potential to improve the way billions of people live.As an Engineering Manager on the OpenXR team you will lead, manage and inspire engineering teams developing the next-generation API standard for AR and VR development. As a hands-on leader, you will support the design and development of OpenXR and the runtime which coordinates XR services on Meta Quest devices and PCs The ideal candidate is an experienced people manager with a background in cross platform engine/SDK development and has a passion for bringing technologies together through open standards.

Required Skills:

Software Engineering Manager, OpenXR Responsibilities:

  1. Manage a team of software engineers developing OpenXR

  2. Be both a technical leader in XR systems software and a people manager.

  3. Manage engineers and help them develop their careers, assigning them to projects tailored to their skill levels, long-term skill development, personalities, and work styles.

  4. Communicate and collaborate effectively with cross-functional hardware and software engineering teams.

  5. Champion engineering and operational excellence, establishing metrics and process for regular assessment and improvement.

  6. Set clear expectations and create a positive work environment based on accountability, in collaboration with the engineering and management teams.

  7. Work closely with dedicated recruiting staff to expand the team, including sourcing candidates, interviewing candidates, participating in conferences/events, and on-boarding new employees.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

  2. 7+ years experience working on systems software in a large-scale C or C++ code base.

  3. 3+ years experience managing and growing software engineers.

  4. Experience building real time systems.

  5. Experience with processes including: source control, bug tracking, design documentation, and sprint planning based Software Development.

  6. Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

  7. Experience developing, debugging, and shipping software products on large code bases that span platforms and tools.

  1. Demonstrated knowledge of Operating Systems internals on at least one platform.

Public Compensation:

$177,000/year to $251,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
