Required Skills:

Software Engineer, Video - Reality Labs Responsibilities:

  1. Research, develop, and troubleshoot real time communication systems, related to video and audio codecs, cameras, displays, and microphones.

  2. Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand features, operation, and specify enhancements.

  3. Optimizing and improving video codec efficiency, encode rate control, speed, video, pre/post-processing and error resilience.

  4. Debugging and diagnosing quality of end-to-end video experience on lossy networks in real-time communication scenarios.

  5. Define the video optimization roadmap for both low-end and high-end network and devices.

  6. Lead the definition and implementation of media processing pipeline.

  7. Continuously improve the efficiency of the automated test tooling by leveraging the internal automated test infrastructure.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

  2. 6+ years software development experience including experience in image or video processing.

  3. Understanding of the multimedia stack, including containers, codecs, and AV synchronization.

  4. Experience in C/C++ multithreaded programming.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Masters Degree or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent practical experience.

  2. 2+ years experience with video codec standards like H.264/AVC, H.265/HEVC, VP8/VP9, AV1

  3. Experience in RTC/WebRTC or video with networking.

  4. Experience with live streaming applications including one or more ingestion protocols such as RTMP, RIST, SRT, Zixi

  5. Experience with drafting or modifying video encoders

  6. Experience with technical broadcast contribution pipelines: Path (redundant, diverse), transcoding settings, captions/subtitles, etc.

  7. Experience building FFmpeg filters or have worked with FFmpeg APIs.

  8. Experience with OpenCL, DirectX and Intel Media SDK programming.

  9. Experience with Android Media SDK.

  10. Experience designing power-efficient software for mobile or embedded systems.

Public Compensation:

$146,994/year to $208,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
