Meta Software Engineer, Metaverse Engine Technology - Avatars in Burlingame, California

Summary:

Avatar Performance and Visuals team is looking for engineers with experience and interest in performance optimization efforts to push the visual fidelity of our avatar further across large set of hardware and experiences. We want to enable developers to build beautiful avatars across platforms, and customize them to their unique experiences.The team is focused on making our Avatar characters shine across a wide range of experiences, applications, and hardware. We drive improvement in the fidelity of human representation from research to product, through investment in rendering & shading techniques, performance and consistency.

Required Skills:

Software Engineer, Metaverse Engine Technology - Avatars Responsibilities:

  1. Push the performance envelope (CPU, GPU, fps, etc.) of the avatar SDK and its respective engine integrations (e.g. Unity, Native) to yield the best user experience we can achieve with our avatars

  2. Create frameworks that help us make decision on how to balance performance and visual fidelity, across Art and Engineering teams

  3. Create scope for junior engineers working at this space

  4. Work directly with end-products teams (e.g. Horizon) to bring improvements all the way to the finish line. We take mutual goals with them to incentivize deep collaboration

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

  2. 5+ years experience as an engineer shipping features within games or 3D interactive products

  3. Solid understanding of 3D graphics concepts: meshes, materials, shaders, lighting

  4. Experience writing real-time code in C/C++ that executes on end user devices - such as VR headsets, cell phones, or game consoles

  5. Solid understanding of profiling and performance optimizations

  1. Familiarity with proprietary or commercial game engines and associated tools, e.g. Unity, Unreal, CryEngine, etc.

  2. Experience developing SDKs or shared technology that balances the needs of multiple shipping products

  3. Animation/Game engine animation system experience

  4. Prior experience shipping games on any of Windows, Android, iOS or game consoles

Public Compensation:

$146,994/year to $208,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
