Meta Product Design Manager - MR/VR Spatial Systems in Burlingame, California

Summary:

The Spatial Systems team, part of the Quest VR organization, is focused on designing the Mixed Reality foundation for the Quest Software Platform. This involves creating experiences for technology that understands the space around us, enabling developers to leverage this scene data, and redefining how users perceive and interact with mixed reality.Our aim is to enhance the perception, usability, and safety of mixed reality. Our goal is to create a zero-friction system that allows users to stay fully connected to the world around them.For this role, we're seeking a Design Manager to lead a team in creating the foundational elements for mixed reality. You'll be managing a talented team of seven product designers.

Required Skills:

Product Design Manager - MR/VR Spatial Systems Responsibilities:

  1. Lead a design team of subject matter experts in the research, design, prototyping, and delivery of new mixed reality experiences.

  2. Understand the technical aspects of mixed reality and how they shape the platform. This includes general knowledge of technology, computer vision, 3D graphics, and other relevant areas.

  3. Collaborate closely with XR tech, UXR, PM, prototypers, and Art to validate new technologies and transform them into user-friendly features that delight our users with simplicity.

  4. Thoroughly review and provide feedback for designers to improve their craft and product quality. Coaching and developing team members. Cultivate a healthy team culture.

  5. Setting goals and objectives for the team. Allocating resources and delegating tasks. Monitoring progress and performance. Managing conflicts and resolving issues.

  6. Demonstrate collaboration skills and a proven track record of building trust and cross-functional alignment in a highly technical environment.

  7. Clearly tell a story that’s anchored in real user experiences. Help demystify highly technical problem spaces and focus on the aspects that provide value to users and to Meta’s platform.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 6+ years of experience in Product Design

  2. 3+ years of design leadership experience with direct reports under your guidance and leadership

  3. Proven experience with 3D and interaction design

  4. Proven effective communication and presentation skills

  5. A portfolio featuring examples of 3D, interaction, and prototyping work

  2. Experience with Unity or Unreal Engine

$165,000/year to $231,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
