Job Description

Pay Rate: $44.00 to $48.00 Per Hour.

Position Purpose:

Responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining a variety of moderately complex to complex instrumentation and electrical equipment to include control systems, sensors, analyzers, electrical motors, pneumatic instrumentation, programmable logic controllers, etc. to insure optimum performance of machines and associated equipment. Adheres to all health, safety, and compliance requirements in accordance with federal and state regulations. Mentors employees that have less experience in tasks and procedures

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and repair existing problems by utilizing a variety of electrical testers/devices to determine possible causes for problem situations.

  • Dismantle a variety of electrical devices to gain access to and remove defective parts and reassemble and test for optimum performance.

  • Repair and/or replace functional parts of control instruments and ability to interpret instructions and diagrams in correcting existing problems.

  • Maintain appropriate records on completed work performed and forwards logs along with findings to the immediate supervisor.

  • Maintain and calibrate pH Analyzers, Hydrocarbon Analyzers, H2S Analyzers and LEL Detectors.

  • Set up and check preventive equipment such as emergency generators, cathodic protection, change desiccant in water’s air system, waste feed cut off testing, analyzer gas equipment, etc. to insure that safety measures are maintained within the facility.

  • Setting up and installing pressure transmitters. Setting up and changing flow meters.

  • Maintains the proper paperwork daily by ensuring that it is filled out and updated accurately.

  • Maintain and track inventories of specific calibration gases.

  • Maintain and diagnose bridge crane failures and make repairs when needed.

  • Ability to diagnose, repair, calibrate air actuated and/or electrically controlled valves.

  • Install and repair advanced instrumental tubing systems.

  • Ability to maintain shift coverage when needed. Performs the duties of I & E Technicians I and II when needed.

Mentors other I/E Technicians on tasks and procedures. Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • On an as-needed basis, order needed parts and machinery and keep adequate inventories to meet scheduled on-going electrical/instrumentation maintenance programs.

  • Other work related duties as assigned.

  • Must be able to join the Facility Emergency Response Team (ERT) within 18 months of employment.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:

  • High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required.

  • Three years’ work experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong team player.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Time management: the ability to organize and manage multiple deadlines.

  • Strong customer orientation.

  • Must have working knowledge and experience in the following areas: Advanced Industrial Product Training, Advanced Stack Analyzer, 1800/1900 Tec Training O2 Analyzer/LFO2 Analyzer, Hydrocarbon Analyzer, H2S Analyzer, PH Analyzer as well as areas for the I & E Technician I and II.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training:

  • State Journeyman’s Electrical License required.

  • 24-hour HAZWOPER Certification.

Physical Requirements:

  • Amount of time spent – Frequent sitting, standing, and walking, along with fine finger movements and eye-hand coordination. Occasional twisting, climbing, reaching above shoulder level, and bending.

  • Works in various positions; works on ladders, catwalks, and supports at heights of 50 feet above the ground; and works with hands extended above and below head and body up to 40 minutes using hand tools weighing up to 15 pounds.

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

  • Occasional stooping, bending or kneeling and entering confined spaces.

  • Must be proficient in the care and use of specific, facility required PPE (Personal Protection Equipment), including safety glasses, hard hat, gloves, hearing protection, coveralls, respirator, and hearing protection.

  • Spends 100% of the time in the operations environment. Typically spends 25 – 35% of time exposed to outdoor and sometimes inclement weather.
