Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The team leader, in addition to his/her assigned job, is responsible for building the capability of his/her team to deliver against the department masterplan through rigorous execution of work processes and standards.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform all work in accordance with environmental, health, safety, food safety, and quality standards, legal compliance, rules, regulations and practices of the facility.

  • Drive Daily Management Systems to deliver improved results every shift, every day

  • Ensure any safety / quality / food safety behavior & condition issues are resolved quickly

  • Own team’s results

  • Drive effective operational reviews (shift hand-off, shiftly operations review)

  • Lead team meeting

  • Responsible for updating the visual board

  • Ensure team members are growing in capability

  • Work with the Line Leader on administration of people management systems (staffing, training, etc.)

  • Communication effectively with the team by ensuring the team is receiving the right information

  • Use problem solving skills and root cause analysis to resolve and/or mitigate operational issues

  • Lead culture discussions (creed and values)

    LEADER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Hold team accountable to execution to standards

  • Ensure all associates receive their allotted breaks and lunch periods while maintaining production run rate

  • Manage skills matrix for your team and ensure all associates have a training plan developed

  • Escalate issues that need further attention properly

  • Demonstrate the GSF Creed and Values

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or GED.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • High level of reading comprehension

  • Ability to write detailed correspondence and documentation

  • Ability to use effective problem solving skills

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to use mathematical functions including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in accordance with production paperwork.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment and/or clothing

  • Stand/walk 8 or more hours per day

  • Constantly twist/turn and talk/hear

  • Frequently squat, bend, reach, handle/finger, grip/grasp and use fine motor tasks

  • Occasionally lift up to 25 lbs from floor to shoulder level and carry 30 feet

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision

    ENVIRONMENTAL/ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS:

  • Constantly work in damp, wet, humid and slippery environments

  • Constantly work near moving machinery

  • Constantly work in high noise levels requiring hearing protection

    MACHINES/TOOLS/EQUIPMENT/SOFTWARE:

  • Bump cap, hair net, safety glasses, hearing protection, and smock.

  • Rubber and cotton gloves.

  • Knowledge of equipment on the production line you are responsible for

  • Ability to use computers/tablets including basic software such as Microsoft Word and Excel
