The Senior Software Engineer is a critical technology role, responsible for translating requirements and user stories into functional software that delivers value to the business. They help make the impossible become possible through the design, development, testing and implementation of complex software for use across The Walt Disney Company. We’re looking for experienced Software Engineers, with a background in complex integrations, to ensure that we are building the “best-in-class” products and continuously maintaining and enhancing existing products to improve what differentiates us and technical excellence. Specifically, this role will be responsible for maintaining and developing software for Legal Operations.

This is a 30-month Project Hire position with no guarantee of permanent placement.

What You Will Do

  • Design, develop and test high performance, highly scalable and flexible software solutions with focus on integrations between internal and external systems

  • Translate business requirements to integration design specification

  • Develop, test and deploy integrations using Web Services APIs, XML, XSLT, Google Pub/Sub among others

  • Must have technical knowledge to be able to work with other teams, including third parties, Enterprise applications and infrastructure teams

  • Assess release and identify impact and opportunities to support new features.

  • Resolve critical incidents by conducting root cause analysis and identifying solutions

  • Partner with architects, business architects and business systems analysts and other software and data engineers on project teams, following Solutions Architecture model

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a Software Engineering or software development role, developing a complex product within an enterprise

  • 2+ years Web Services APIs, Messaging Bus, Pub-Sub, Google Cloud Platform, and ETL

  • Background in and strong understanding of broad systems architecture and data flow

  • Experience with integration design using data integration best practices including APIs, Messaging Bus, Pub-Sub, ETL

  • Extensive knowledge of best-practice business process and technologies for legal functions, focusing on architecture and integration to legacy based systems

  • A strong business orientation combined with strong IT technical skills.

  • Wide experience with a variety of Software Development Lifecycle methodologies across waterfall and agile with a focus on agile

  • Expertise in developing and delivering highly-scalable and flexible, cost effective, cloud-based enterprise solutions

  • Expertise developing secure and compliant data solutions

  • Expertise in secure software development and secure coding practices

  • Expertise in developing cloud-based and open source software solutions

  • Strong understanding of ITIL v4

  • Strong communication, writing, and executive presentation skills

  • Able to translate complex ideas into understandable requirements, value statements, and business outcomes

  • Demonstrated experience leading small teams to deliver projects and business outcomes

  • Experience with agile software development methodologies (PMI-ACP, SAFe Agilist, ICP-ACC, etc.)

  • Identifies key business opportunities and challenges

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience

The hiring range for this position in California is $136,038 - $182,490 per year and in Washington is -$142,516 - $191,180 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
