M&T Bank Strategic Initiatives Lead in Buffalo, New York

Overview:

Works closely with senior managers within the Technology and Enterprise Data divisions and the Bank to manage key initiatives, including supporting critical Division/Department cross-functional projects related to strategic objectives of the Bank, improving risk management and ensuring efficiency and sustainability of core processes and positioning the Bank to meet evolving regulatory expectations.

Responsibilities:

  • Subject Matter Expert and single point of contact for Technology CIO's as it relates to the process, controls, and preparation related to proposals needed for two key committees that monitor funding for bank-wide strategic initiatives

  • Monitor investment level of key initiatives throughout the year to ensure we’re on pace for securing what we need to deliver on organizational outcomes. This will be completed through liaising with CIOs and their Points of Contact, as appropriate, to ensure we’re putting forward the right investment priorities at the right time

  • Assist CIOs and their teams with business cases and scope of analysis that are needed to get funding approved

  • Support Tech CFO and CIO in managerial reporting and analysis for the Tech enterprise (e.g., management reporting for labor plan)

  • Support material prep for CIO's and consult with them on key topics and decisions

  • Ensures consistent processes and standards to help inform prioritization and trade-off decisions within the Tech organization

  • Liaises with internal Engagement team to ensure stakeholders are aware, communicated to, and educated on the process and decision points

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years’ relevant work experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 9 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 5 years’ relevant work experience

Education and Experience Preferred:

  • Bachelors’ degree in Finance, Economics, Math, Accounting, Engineering, or Business Administration; Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or advanced degree

  • Minimum of 6 years’ relevant work experience

  • Banking/financial industry experience

  • Six Sigma, Lean or Process Improvement, or project management-related education

  • Experience with SQL, programming and statistical software

  • Experience with financial, regulatory and/or process analysis, and technical writing

  • Curious and innovative

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $85,104.04 - $141,840.07 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
