Work Schedule: Varied with Call Weekend and Holiday Rotation

Hours: 7-3p; 8-4p 9-5p; 7-5p; Rotation to 11-7p, occasional 3-11p

Summary:

A Special Procedures Technologist performs routine and specialized radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures and related clerical functions at a level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. Familiar with the variety of supplies and devices used during the performance of interventional procedures. Demonstrates ability and performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnosis. Special Procedures Technologists will rotate through diagnostic radiology and must be able to work as a team with radiologists and patient care staff.

Responsibilities:

EDUCATION

  • Graduate of an Approved School of Radiologic Technology BLS Preferred

  • New York State License as a "General Radiologic Technologist" and current New York State Department of Health certificate of registration as a Radiologic Technologist

  • Certification as a Radiologic Technologist by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT)

  • Will achieve and maintain Injection License through the New York State Department of Health within 30 days of hire

    EXPERIENCE

  • Two (2) years previous experience as a Staff Radiologic Technologist

  • Legacy Associates

  • Special Procedures Technologists in this title prior to implementation of this revised job description will not be required to rotate through diagnostic radiology

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

  • Must pay close attention to detail for extended periods of time with sustained accuracy

  • Must be able to work cooperatively with a multidisciplinary team of nurses, technologists, Interventional Radiologists and physician extenders

  • Uses knowledge of Radiation Safety to help provide a safe working environment for self, patient, and teammates

  • Speaks up for patient safety

  • Provides compassionate and empathetic patient care

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Works in sterile procedural environments for extended periods of time

  • Involved in lengthy procedures that require wearing heavy lead lined aprons for extended periods of time
