Summary:
Assists supervisor with the direction and coordination of Laboratory Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance activities across Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. Assists the supervisor with the direction and coordination of the activities of workers engaged in performing laboratory tests to obtain data for use in diagnosis, treatment and research; provides technical supervision and training to subordinate-level staff members involved in Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance activities; performs simple and complex laboratory test procedures in a timely manner as assigned; obtains and interprets data for diagnosis and treatment of disease; assists the Supervisor in providing direct administrative and technical support to the Chair of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, the Clinical Chief, and the Administrator for Pathology and Laboratory Medicine; assists in monitoring and improving departmental operations; performs, monitors and reviews simple and/or complex laboratory test procedures; performs related laboratory technology duties.

Starting salary range for this position is $68,523 - $87,032 annually which includes a comprehensive benefits package. This position also offers a geographic differential of $4.60 hourly and an assignment differential of $4.00 hourly in addition to the salary range above.

Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience

License Requirement
1. Possession of a full license to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in the State of New York; or
2. Eligibility for full licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in the State of New York; or
3. Physician licensed to practice medicine or osteopathy in the State of New York.

Education and Experience
1. Doctorate degree in one of the chemical, physical or biological sciences and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time experience in the specific laboratory discipline; or
2. Master's degree in one of the chemical, physical or biological sciences and the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time clinical laboratory experience including one (1) year of experience in the specific laboratory discipline; or
3. Bachelor's degree in one of the chemical, physical or biological sciences and the equivalent of four (4) years of full-time experience as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in the specific laboratory discipline; or
4. Bachelor's degree in medical technology or laboratory science and the equivalent of four (4) years of full-time experience as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in the specific laboratory discipline.

NOTES:
1. As a condition of continued employment, incumbents must obtain and maintain the appropriate certification within six (6) months of their appointment to this title.
2. Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited school, college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

The preferred candidate will have experience with equipment and method validation, standard operating procedure development, a knowledge of laboratory regulatory standards, experience with lab accreditation surveys and auditing, possess leadership/team building skills, possess excellent communication skills and attention to detail. The preferred candidate will posses critical thinking skills and have the ability to analyze, assess, and make informed decisions to ensure the quality of products or processes. The preferred candidate will be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Laboratory Information Systems.
